Problems with MSI GTX 970 - no signal to screen, mobo doesn't seem to recognize card is there

I am trying to install a new MSI GTX 970

My system specs:

I5-3570k
Gigabyte Z77-d3h motherboard (My BIOS is on version F22)
Corsair TX650M PSU

Previous GPU: AMD HD7950

Uninstalled my old graphics card drivers, removed the old card and put in the new card.

When I boot up I get 2 beeps from my internal speaker, there does appear to be power going to the card (a light on the side comes on and the fans start up). I'm not getting any signal to my monitor, even when i go into the BIOS and select the PCI E as preferred over the internal graphics card.

I'm using a Samsung monitor with an HDMI cable.

I can't see the card anywhere on my Device Manager under Display adapters.

When I try to install nvidia's drivers it begins checking for system compatibility then stops, giving an error message saying "The graphics driver could not find compatible hardware".

There is one newer version of my BIOS available, but it's a beta version - should I try updating to that?

Any one able to help?

Thanks very much.

Yes it does.

I actually have an update: I think I have it working now.

I started up again using the motherboard video and went into the BIOS and noticed it had reverted from the PCI e as the preferred gpu over the internal graphics.

Changed it again to PCI e and started up and it worked this time. I now have the latest drivers installed and it all appears to be working except my motherboard speaker is still giving me 2 short beeps everytime I start up.

Thanks for the help. Since I have the GPU working now I think it may be something else.

Looking at my motherboard manual and it looks like 2 short beeps could mean a CMOS error. Any advice for that?
