So I always thought I would just need to plug the second hard drive in. I have a sata cable and power running to the new hard drive. However I cannot see the second hard drive when i look at storage. Do I need to format it somehow? Please don assume anything because I've never done this before.

When I was looking at the bios I had 3 storage options one was the DVD drive where you can insert DVDs and I had two others which had a string of numbers and letters so yes I am assuming one of those was the old hard drive and one was the new.
