PC keeps freezing on Windows Startup after installing new CPU

Hello, so I recently installed a new CPU (Devil's Canyon i7 4790k @4.0Ghz) on my MSI Z97 Gaming 3 motherboard, I upgraded from an i5 4690k @3.5Ghz, on the first startup with the new CPU installed everything was fine, it went straight to the desktop and Windows said it was "installing driver software", it took only a couple of seconds and they were all for the new CPU, though personally I thought there should be no driver updates I let it do it's thing, then there was a pop-up asking to restart the PC, I restarted it and now on launch it goes past the MSI screen and comes up with a command prompt screen asking whether you want to launch Windows Start-up Repair or start Windows normally, if you start Windows normally it freezes and reboots on the "Starting Windows" screen when the colourful dots touch and if you run Windows startup repair, it asks you to restore the system but I can't since I lose control of my mouse.

I've tried updating the bios to the latest version using M-Flash and I've tried putting the i5 back in but the same problem keeps happening. (Even with the i5 in)
I'm running on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

If anyone has any ideas I'll greatly appreciate it,
Thank you.

I did the exact same upgrade on a Gigabyte Z97 motherboard this past week. I got the same message about the default Windows drivers being installed for the CPU, but it booted perfectly afterward. It looks like something got corrupted in your Windows installation along the way. You're probably going to have to reinstall from scratch (which of course no one wants to do but sometimes its unavoidable).

That's such a shame, I just want to make sure it's not a hardware issue I've checked inside the PC and made sure everything's connected and it seems that it is. I don't know why it's corrupted guess I'm just unlucky, thank you for the quick response. :) is there anyway I could get the data off my computer and then reset?
