Hey, so I just finished my first ever pc build and can't seem to get my graphics to work.. I am trying to use the asus R7 240 2GB with my asus M5a97 r2.0 motherboard but all that happens is the fan spins for about 2 secs when you first turn on the machine then instantly stops with no sign of life, no post and then a long beep followed by 3 sort beeps from the motherboard which means 'No VGA detected' according to the manual. It would appear to bit be not getting enough power even though I have a 600 W power supply.. The card is defiantly in correctly in the blue x16 slot although I have tried in the black x4 one and got the same result. Is there a pci power option in the bios I'm missing or something?
Note that the card slots not neve an external power input and I have an old nvidea Geforce 220 with an external power and that works fine I have installed windows 10 and everything on that.. I also have access to the BIOS using that.. I just would like the newer card for directX 11 support. :) I really hope someone can help and here is the full system specs.
MOTHERBOARD Asus M5A97 R2.0
RAM 8GB X2 HyperX fury red
CPU AMD FX 6350 3.9Ghz.
GPU that I'm trying to get working Asus R7 240 2GB
Card that I'm having to use temporarily NVIDEA GEFORCE 220 S or something not 100% sure..
PSU Aerocool INTERGRATOR 600W
Thank you for any help much appreciated :)

Minor correction:

The Asus Driver (Link) is a ZIP file, so forget all about the Device Mgr Update.

When you restart Windows, use Windows Explorer to navigate to the ZIP driver file and select "Extract all Files" from the top left of the box. After the files have been extracted, double click on "Setup.EXE" and that should install the drivers for you.

Hey, Joe -
The drivers from the GF 220S may be causing you problems. If you have not done so already, D/L the latest R7 240 drivers from Asus website. Put them someplace handy like a USB flash drive.

Next, D/L Driver Sweeper (Link) and run it to uninstall the old drivers for the GF 220S. Shutdown, remove the 220S and install the R7 240. Reboot. Windows should start up with generic video driver.

After restart, go into Device Mgr. Select your R7 240, double click on it, open the "driver" tab, select "Update Driver". Windows will ask if you want to get the driver from the 'Net. Select NO. Next, look for "Have Driver" or somesuch. It will ask you to browse to the driver. Browse to the USB drive and select "Install".
