The title says it all, I want to get a 2tb hdd for my steam games and keep all my other files on my current 1 tb hdd, because my steam games takes up 65 percent of my 1 tb hdd.

You're doing it the hard way... just delete everything from your Steam folder except for the Steamapps folder and the Steam.exe executable. Then cut and paste the Steam folder to the new location and run Steam.exe. You have now sucessfully migrated Steam to a new HDD.

Not so sure about that last reply. I imagine you'd need to at least change some settings in Steam after.
I give another vote for Steam Mover, simple and works for doing single games.
You could also move your steamapps folder if you want to just move all games at once. Then, make a junction or symbolic link from your old stream to your new one (I'm actually doing BOTH options due to some legacy stuff I never cleaned up, steamapp linked from C to F and steam mover plunks single games back on C as needed.

Not sure why you think this method doesn't work: it's the one recommended by Steam tech support, and in any case, I've done it twice with no issues. And you don't have to change any settings, the Steam installation will rebuild itself during the initial launch from the new locations. The only casualties are desktop shortcuts: they will still point to the "old" location, and must be replaced or edited.

I will try this method first (the steam tech support one(i already knew that one, i was looking for any other/easier options)) and if i have any issues i will do the steam mover one

I'm not saying it won't work, I'm just saying Steam Mover is easier. And lets you quickly pick individual games very easily. Of course Steam won't recommend a third party app that appears to have not been updated in years.

Steam Mover is good if you only want to move part of your Steam collection. If you're going to relocate the whole thing, you might as well use the Valve method: it only requires a bit of cutting and pasting and no third party apps.
