I have a i5 4690k 4.5ghz already bought and I have a VS 550w and a z97-p asus motherboard do you think the psu is the reason for the crashes? Ive tried everything by changing the ram re-applying the thermal paste and nothing seems to work.
Then RMA both motherboard and power supply, just to be sure.
By the way, I'd change that PSU. It might not be the culprit here, but it's not good quality. Actually, it's the lowest in Corsair series: http://www.corsair.com/en/power-supply-units
I mean when I line up the motherboard onto the case all of the screws line up the only thing is my motherboard is too big for my case so the led lights and power switch and the other wires are underneath the motherboard could that be a reason why the pc is turning off?
Remove the front panel cables and the 8 pin power cable.
Start the board by shortly touching with a screwdriver the 2 pins on the motherboard corresponding to the case power button.. See if still the same.
