What kind of storage should I get? For my build

Windows plus your usual installs (Adobe Acrobat, Open Office, seven zip, VLC, Daemon Tools, etc...) will run you about 50GB or maybe more. That leaves you about 50GB left on a 128GB drive. From my experience it's realistic to give 25GB per game install so that leaves room for 2 games. Your left with little room on the drive meaning zero room on your desktop which is were I like to download everything and work with temporary pics/vids before archiving them elsewhere.

A 256GB drive gives you the extra 128GB free so figure out if that's enough. 1 extra game installed leaves 100GB for some music and movies. I find 256GB adequate for my needs providing you have a second drive for archiving all your movies, music, pics... I'd add a...

Note I haven't built this PC and I need it kept around $850 as said above. Should I totally just swap out the 250gb ssd for the 500gb hdd? Thanks

If you're the type who likes 6+ games installed simultaneously and plays them all, then definitely a 512GB SSD.
