Hi, I was building a PC with my friend today with these parts and we got everything put together. The fans and lights turn on, but it doesn't post and it doesn't beep. Here's a picture of it.

Worthy of noting is that it won't turn off unless we turn off the power supply. We think it might be a defective motherboard. What could it be? Help would be great.

We already did all of that and it didn't work. We tried DVI and HDMI.

Did you try moving the card to another PCI-E slot? Also do you have another card you can use? Does the monitor show the NO PICTURE warning or just sit on a black screen by chance?

We tried moving the PCI-E slot. Didn't work. We don't have another card that we can use that'll fit with my motherboard. And yes, we did get a no picture warning.

Bit quick to make that assumption, have you got a PC speaker plugged into the speaker header on the board?

You could try removing the GPU altogether, that should at least give you a warning beep if the board is posting.

Also, try removing the RAM and just install one stick closest to the CPU. If that doesn't work power off and try in the second slot across. If that doesn't work try the same process with the other RAM stick.

Again the OP stated no beeps and this is a very common issue with UD3 and UD5 boards.

One other thing to try, I once installed an FX CPU into a board and it didn't quite slot into the socket. But for some reason it let me put the clamp down and put the cooler on the top of it! But it was slightly half in half out, not sure how it happened but it took me ages to figure out what the hell was wrong and that gave a similar symptom to this also. Worth a look!

We tried literally all of that. The PC speaker is plugged in.

We can't push it in anymore than it already is. The CPU cooler is turning on as well and everything's in socket.

Yeah but.... does he have a speaker connected to the speaker output header to hear the warning beep though?

NVM OP has already confirmed above.

The only other option I guess, is to take it out the case and put it on a cardboard box or something and make sure something isn't shorting the board. Like a screw falling behind while fitting it or something.

Or I guess if you have tried everything you could just return the board LOL

Pretty sure there's no static. Guess I have to order a new motherboard.
