What does "Integrated Graphics" Mean on a Processor?

Hi Guys!

I want to get the Intel Core i5-6600K CPU and it says the Integrated Graphics is Intel HD Graphics 530. What does this mean? Is it giving me any performance limitations or anything? please let me know.

Whichever you plug the monitor into. You'd want it in the 750.

Btw luke_stroud, this is not an apu. Intel had igpus on the cpu long before amd coined that term for their a-series.

It basically means that as well as powering your computer and telling it what to do, it comes with a built in graphics system- it may not be amazing, but this means you do not need a graphics card.
CPU's like this are called APU's!

It means that the graphics is on the same die as the CPU. If you were to start the PC without a dedicated graphics solution (GPU) it would start and run with the Intel HD graphics 530. Its enough to run the system, but you can't game with it unless you have a dedicated GPU.

So If I have the processor with integrated graphics, but also add myself an external graphics card (dedicated) such as a GeForce GTX 750, which graphics will my system be using? The GTX 750, or the Integrated Graphics? Because I want the best performance (in this case, coming from my GTX 750).
