Hi,
Im getting a CPU Fan Error on startup. Im able to access the bios where under fan speed it reads N/A. The temperature of my CPU is at a steady 42°C while idling in bios.
I opened the case and can see that when I power on my PC, the cpu fan starts and spins for about a second then stops.
I recently upgraded my motherboard on my HP desktop (HPE H8-1070t) with an Asus MicroAtx Motherboard (P8b75-m LX Plus). Swapped the processor (i7-2600), applied some Arctic Silver and replaced the stock cpu fan/cooler with a silenx compact cpu cooler since the old stock one wouldn't work with my new motherboard (screwed directly to my old motherboard).
I also installed a brand new EVGA GTX 970 and a Samsung 850 evo 250GB SSD. Along with two older HDDs and a DVD-RW. All running on a Corsair CX500 PSU.
The CPU cooler is plugged in to a 4 pin header even though the connector is only a 3 pin for the Cpu cooler.
Can this be the problem? Or does the fan only turn on when it needs to? Am I overreacting?
Any answers will help. Im currently on the bios screen waiting to see if I should proceed to install Windows 7 on the SSD or just turn the computer off and keep researching for answers.
Thanks!
