So I bought this Asus Crosshair V Formula Z motherboard from Best Buy for xmas:
Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z ATX Motherboard 2400MHz (Socket AM3+) Multi CROSSHAIRVFORMULA-Z - Best Buy

and I have the Corsair TX850w power supply (I think it might be the original version, not some gold edition or whatever). I think this is the correct one: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...?EdpNo=4352342

My motherboard has an 8pin (I guess 12 volt) ATX connector which I was able to plug into with one of my psu's connectors. There's another 4pin ATX slot for me to plug something into for power, but I can't seem to find a 4pin atx connector from my PSU.

Does my PSU even have a 4pin ATX connector, am I too retarded to find it or will I need to buy a new PSU (since mine is from 2009 or 2010 or whatever)?

Should I look harder for a 4 pin connector for the slot or is there something else I can use? My manual explains that the 4 pin slot needs to have power otherwise the system wont turn on. My wiring is kinda a mess so I can't exactly find anything close but pci-express cables (but I don't think I'm supposed to plug those into the motherboard)

yeah unplug everthing, and look for all the 8 pins and 4 pins, if you dont see and 4 pins, check the 8 pins if you pull them in half :)

take it out, and use the other 8pin, so you can actually use 4+4. :)

Okay, give me several minutes while I frantically search through all of the cords for something that will work.

I should mention that the 4x4/8pin connector that's already plugged in is already being used because the slot it's plugged into requires 8 pins...just can't seem to find another 4pin or 4x4/8pin cord anywhere...

Guess I'll have to buy a new PSU then, darn. Wasn't planning on it, and I don't want to return my motherboard because I already returned my corsair h110i gtx cooler since it was too large for my case.

Bah, and I thought I did my homework before buying these parts...been doing this pc building stuff for 6 years and I still make dumb mistakes >.<
