I just built a new computer and installed Win7 Pro. Everything was working fine until I updated the drivers using the DVD that came with my H97 MSI motherboard. When I restarted the computer, I couldn't log in because my USB mouse and keyboard won't work (the mouse doesn't light up).

I restarted it and went to the BIOS/UEFI (latest version compared to MSI website). The mouse and keyboard worked again. But booting into Windows rendered them dead again. I rebooted into safe mode, and the mouse worked! I also got the keyboard to work by reinstalling its driver. However this did not carry over when I rebooted Windows normally, nor in safe mode with networking.

What should I do? Do I have to reinstall Windows? If so should I install the drivers from the MSI website downloaded into a usb stick?

Solution
Okay
.Have you tried all the USB ports ?
.Have you got ps2 ports on your mobo to use an old PS/2 keyboard and mouse if so use them in windows 7 normal mode and install drivers with them
.Try using a system restore in windows repair.
.if all else fails do a clean reinstall of windows and get your drivers off the msi website but if you have the option DO NOT INSTALL USB DRIVERS only install 3.0.
