I was wondering if I needed a bigger psu. Here's my part list:

i5 4460
MSI R9 380 4Gb
8Gb G.Skill Ripjaws
2 very standard 120mm case fans (added)
Corsair 200R case
1Tb Caviar Blue hard drive
ASRock H97 Anniversary

My psu is the EVGA 500b. I'm considering getting a fan controller and eventually an ssd. Would I need a bigger Psu now and would I need a bigger one when I upgrade?

Thanks,
Zach

Agreed. The determining factor when selecting a power supply is the GPU. You are slightly underpowered for a system with a 380. 550 watts is recommended. 500 watts would be sufficient with a high quality unit but the EVGA 500B is a lower end, budget unit. You are probably OK if you don't overclock but you are close to what I would feel safe with.

Power requirements.

Alright so I should up my psu in the long run for my gpu but I'm okay to upgrade now without necessarily "uping" my psu?
