Adding non-steam games to steam

There is another thread concerning this topic but the last response was in 2013 and I am weary of responding to an old post. Furthermore, I know the process of adding a game but Steam freezes whenever I attempt to go Steam>Add NonSteam...

Question: Is there a fix to make Steam not freeze when adding a non-steam game to my library?


In addition, I have tried opting in/out of betas. Thank you for taking time to respond to my question!

It seems to be a bug with steam loading the list of games and programs on your computer and a fix was rolled out a while ago on the beta but the bug seems to be back again. So the solution to this is to complain to valve.
