PS3 controller recognized as an Xbox controller

Got a very weird Question,,
My friend gave me his PS3 controller, idk why,
I tried out the controller on my pc
and then When I run a game (assassin's creed rogue), Its recognized as an Xbox controller,,
the controls are ABXY..
the buttons are working but they are fuctioning differently..
so does anyone know how to fix this??
or is this normal?

Yes, this is a pain. The PC does not register PS3 Controllers. You can use DS3 tools to fix this (a neat little program I like to use for the Dark Souls games), it basically changes the layout so you can use the PS3 controller but the games will still show the Xbox controls sadly.

This is normal for Windows, I spent a good 6 months a few years ago looking for fixes and all I could find is DS3 Tools

I don't know how to fix this, but it may be a driver issue, but generally games don't have ps3 controller icons so it'll just map it to the xbox defaults, don't be worried about this because you may be able to change the icons of the abxy to playstation icons.
