Unsure about which RAM to buy

Hello,
I am looking to buy new RAM and I am currently looking at the Corsair Vengeance series. I have looked on scans website for Corsair RAM and came across these 2:

I am wondering what is the difference between them, the RAM with the higher clock speed is rated as mid range whereas the 1866 is rated as High end. Could anyone give me some advice.

None of the links are working.

2400MHz is faster than 1866MHz and this donates the speed at which the RAM will run out the box. However, it should be noted that the speed may be determined by your motherboard.

If you post the model of your motherboard we will be able to give you a definitive answer.

It looks like this motherboard has stock speed of 1866MHz. If you used the 2400MHz RAM it would run at 1866MHz and the 1866MHz would run at this speed as well.

Using faster RAM has little impact on most games and you are likely to only get a very small increase in frames per second (FPS). I would suggest going with whatever one of these is cheaper (likely to be the 1866MHz).

You can overclock the RAM so you could get it to run at 2400MHz but the benefits are not really worth it from what I have been told. You may want to seek a second opinion though.

The 2400 MHz RAM is cheaper than the 1866 MHz which has confused me, the 2400MHz has been marked as Mid Level RAM whereas the 1866MHz has been marked as High End. If you copy and paste the link address you will see what I mean.

The 2400MHz RAM is £10 cheaper than the 1866MHz

Ah I just noticed that the cas latency of the 2400MHz is slow, which is why it is considered mid level and the 1866 MHz has a faster cas latency which makes it high end.

For that reason I would advise getting the 1866MHz in this instance as they will both operate at 1866MHz on your motherboard but one has a better cas latency.

From what I have read the 3 important things to look for in RAM are: speed (high is better), cas latency (low is better) and voltage (low is better).

Hope this helps, by the way that RAM is nearly £5 cheaper on Amazon.

To be honest you never know with that website where they are coming from, the links to the DRAM don't work but guessing the 2400 set is 2400/11 and that is mid range as high is normally considered 2400/10 - however the 1866/9 is also sort of mid range, something like the Trident Z is considered high as it comes at 1866/8 (tighter/smaller/lower CL is better)

Also while your mobo is rated to 2133, the CPU (specifically the MC (memory controller) of the CPU) will be the determining factor of how high a data rate you can run, i.e. an 8320/50 can probably run 1866/2133 a lower end FX say the 4xxx series might only run 1600

1866 should be no problem and 2133 might take a small CPU OCif it doesn't run with the CPU at stock - if you try and have any problems, give me a shout and we can make some small adjustments
