Weird situation with new custom built PC

Recently I bought new parts to build a new PC:

ASUS Maximus VII Ranger
Intel Core i7-4790k
Noctua NH-U9B se2
Corsair Vengeance Pro 2x4GB 1600mhz
ASUS GTX 970 (STRIX-GTX970-DC2OC-4GD5)
Seasonic M12-II Evo 750w
Intel 530 series SSD 120GB

I have a very wierd situation:
Yesterday after full assembly the computer worked just fine, played for hours,
Today I decided to remove the Ultra-Low noise adapter (ULNA) from one of the Noctua fans. After that the system stopped responding to the power button completely. I tried to use the paper clip method on the PSU 24-pin connector, the PSU ran fine, and when I immediately connected the 24 pin connector to the motherboard and pushed the power button, the PC booted up. However it started the iROG 3 update. Took 2 hours to get to 100% but then PC rebooted and started the iROG 3 update again. Force rebooted again and now i'm getting code 76 (PCH DXE initialization ( PCH module specific )) on the Q-Code and nothing is showing on the display.

Is the PSU bad or it is motherboard's fault?
Is it worth trying a USB flashback?

i would first start off by removing anything non controlled by the cpu. graphics card. ram sticks etc. just basic necessities to run a pc. after that i would start adding in hardware to see if whatever you place in your pc may be the culprit.

take out the cpu carefully and inspect the pins make sure they are not bent. you didnt force the cpu down into the holder did you? the cpa has a arros on one of the corners. should line up tio a corner on the cpu socket on the mobo. which you probably did right. but id just check to make sure anyways. thermal paste? did you add any? and if so how much.

do you use memtest at all?

The PC starts the same way with and without graphics card, with 1 RAM stick, with both RAM sticks and with no sticks. Thermal paste is Noctua's NT-H1. I put about the size of an cooked grain of rice. The problem seems to be the either the motherboard or the PSU. Now it starts up even without paper clip method. I just have to unplug and plug back the 24 pin connector. Every time I turn off the switch on PSU/ unplug the power cable I have to disconnect and reconnect the 24 pin connector in order to boot the PC again.

Which is your mobo the Asus?

It's the Maximus VII Ranger (Rev. 1.02). I think the bios version is 2601. Now i'm stuck in iROG 3 update loop.

if all else fails. flashback clearing cmos etc. i would just rma the board. if the bios was shutdown while updating specially withing the updates itself multiple times. the bios chip may be corrupted now. only real way to probably solve it is with a flash clearing cmos or rma. most likely.

if you go rma . dont tell them you turned off your pc while update. just tell them it updates over andover and over till the end of time on irog 3 and shutsdown mid update. that way they wont try and stiff you on a rma mobo since theyll tell you it was your fault somehow.
