FX-6300 vs FX-4300

Hey guys, is there big of a difference between those two processors? Is it worth to get fx-6300 and pay almost 40$ more?

Hello Apolonas,

Me personally would go for the fx 6300, just cuz it has more cores, but in terms of gaming, no there shouldn't be a huge difference.

You can see they have the same rating here. I bought the FX 6300 because its a GREAT CPU for its price, so i would say go for the fx 6300.

Depends on your graphics card and what games you will be playing. If you have a graphics card bigger than a GTX 960 or have any intentions of playing CPU intensive games, I would definitely use the FX 6300.

What about AMD Athlon II X4 860K?? According to cpuboss it's better than FX-6300 and its price is almost same as FX-4300?

I have HD 7870 Oc GPU and i'm mostly playing CS:GO which i think is cpu intensive game.

That would be preferable over the FX 4300 as well for the above reasons.

CS:GO with your GPU and an FX 4300 is OK, I'm thinking more along the lines of ARMA 3, BF4, etc.

For me price is very important, if it doesn't make big difference and i can save 30-40$, that would be pretty great. But still which one should i get? Athlon II X4 860K or FX-4300? Or it would be really worth to pay 40$more for FX-6300? Maybe comparing Athlon II X4 860K vs FX-6300 those 40$ isn't worth at all?

I would upgrade just the CPU to whatever mobo you have now. I don't think the difference between the 860k and the FX 6300 is enough to justify the price of a new motherboard

I currently have LGA775 motherboard and its old, best cpu for it as far as i know would be Q9650 which is still worse then already mentioned cpus. I'm starting to think that maybe FX-4300 would be better because of it's socket for the future, i mean that maybe later in future i will be able to get good cpu and for this socket will there will be more choices or am i wrong?

"Upgrading" generally means you're dropping a new CPU in the same motherboard. A new motherboard + a new CPU = a new build.

If thats the case, you would be better off with going with an Intel G3258 and H81 board that will have better performance than the AMD's and more upgrade options.
