Hi guys,
I am trying to overclock my gigabyte gtx 970 g1 gaming on EVGA precision X. My card is about 7 months old and i have tinkered with precision x a little bit but i have not firmly kept an overclock on for more than a week. The overclocks seem to be unstable as i would get display driver crashes when i was playing bf4. I have been running a CPU overclock on my i7 4790k at 4.4 ghz for the past 4 months now and that has been working fine. But i have some questions with precision x. Right now my settings are +140 gpu and + 300 memory.I have not touched the power target or voltage. This is where I have some questions. I see people putting their power targets and voltage all the way up when overclocking their cards, and i have seen someone do it with my card also. Is this something i should be doing to get more stable overclocks? And will increasing the voltage make it so i can achieve higher overclocks? The tempuratures are fine at around 65 peak when running maxed out heaven 4.0 with no artifacting, and when i overclocked a while back as i mentioned before it worked fine on heaven 4.0 but it would crash all the time in bf4. I dont really play bf4 as much anymore so i am not sure what will happen here. My current overclock seems stable but are there any ways i can improve it? Thanks for your time.
