I have a AMD FX-8320 and I use my computer for gaming. Would overclocking my CPU make a difference in gaming? What applications and processes would overclocking make a noticeable difference in? What would make it worth it?

Most gamers will eventually overclock their processors for better performance. If your comparing your processor to an i7 no your not going to get a big performance boost, but overclocking could give you a nice boost vs something like i5 in heavily multithreaded applications and benchmarks. Overclocking can also mean the difference between getting a CPU bottleneck and avoiding it in some games. FX processors seem to open up a little bit past 4.5Ghz and become harder (but not impossible) to bottleneck. Saying...

Saying you already have the FX 8320, depending on cooling, motherboard, and psu it definitely won't hurt to overclock and you will get better performance by doing so. Every little bit counts.
