I bought this GPU in February of 2015. Quite awhile ago, I noticed that the fans randomly started spinning up to nearly 4k RPMs (according to CPUID HWMonitor). My computer was trying to take off, lol. It was idle at the time, and the GPU, like always, was cool. The fans would rev up and then down. It stopped, didn't happen again, and I forgot about it. I don't actually know if it's all the fans or just one. HWMonitor shows the three fans as a single fan listing. I do know from briefly looking that all 3 fans are spinning. I don't have any heat issues with my PC, so this isn't a temperature thing. This can happen while gaming or while doing nothing. Gaming seems to kick it off, though.

Fast forward to about a week ago, and it's happening again. I've just sent an email to Sapphire, and I will call customer service as well, but I don't have high hopes of the warranty being honored based on some reviews that I have read. I bought the GPU from Newegg, and they have a 30-day replacement only policy on it - obviously way past that point. Hopefully, some of you have had good experience with Sapphire's customer service, and I just happened to read angry internet rants and not truth.

What could be causing this? Assuming they don't let me return it for a replacement, is there anything I can do on my end?
