Hi everyone, I need some help with finding cooling for my CPU's.

I have had my PC for a few years and it has always been noisy, it runs great and does more than I need it to now so dont want to upgrade the motherboard or processors but would love to get it running quietly.

I cant tell what socket the fans fit on to and I dont really understand all the technical stuff, I just want a couple of good fans that will be as near silent as possible, does anyone have any suggestions?

I am in the UK and want to spend no more than £100 for 2 fans.

The tech details are...

Name AMD Athlon 64 FX-74
Codename Windsor FX
Specification AMD Athlon(tm) 64 FX-74 Processor
Package Socket Fr4 (1207)
CPUID F.1.3

Any help anyone can give is very much appreciated!

Thanks,
Scott

So you just want 2 fans and not the cpu cooler itself?

If just fans go with something from Noctua as they have the one of the best fans really silent and good airflow, other option is something from corsair air series

Is your heatsink dusty? If so, make sure to get a can of air and rid of the dust. Also, check any and all fans and vents to make sure they are clear of contaminants, including the PSU. Download HW monitor to check the temps and report back to us please!

If you want it to run slightly quieter, try replacing the thermal compound/paste and cleaning the heat sink.

If you want to replace the cooler...

The H100i GTX is a very quiet liquid cooler. Costs 75.66 on Newegg. There ARE fans, but under normal CPU loads it's almost undetectable.
The Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO is a much cheaper solution, and from what I heard here, it works, and it isn't too loud. and it only costs 20.82. The downside is that it's an air cooler, so there's going to be a bit of sound, and doesn't work as well as the expensive liquid cooler.
If you want to replace the paste, AS5 works well.
