Hiya all,

I'm rebuilding my gaming rig and got a new msi z170a m5 mobo, an i5 6600k cpu chip, two sticks of patriot 16gb ram and an r9 380x gpu from. Asus.

I slotted the cpu, applied paste and attached the cooler and left a stick of ram in while breadboarding to test out of my haf 912 case. Immediately got error code 32 on the debug display on the mobo, no optical signal or anything else coming out (there's a dvi out on this board so I tested that).

Error code 32, according to the manual, means "early cpu initialization". I'm not really sure what it means or how to remedy. In my experience, when breadboarding fails this early on, that usually means a trip back to frys....

Any ideas on what to do people? I reset the cmos so there's not much more I can think of doing at this point other than replacing parts.

with the skylake mb there been issue with gpu and ddr4 ram. a lot of vendors mb went out the door befoire ram vendor had a lot of there newer sticks in stock so a lot of the mb vendor bee ncaught doing a lot of bios updates to fix bugs. take out the gpu and one ram stick see if the mb posts. if not take the power off make sure if your using an after market cooler you did not over tighten. newer skylakes have higher issues of people crushing there chips as there thinner then haswell. if there no change check for bent pins and or cpu that not seated.

Well, I checked all the pins on the cpu and none are bent or look crushed (I have an aftermarket cooler so I hope I didn't tighten too much).

Reseated cpu again, removed gpu and RAM and still not getting to bios or any sort of display. I think I might just return the mobo. I feel pretty confident after reading your post and several other posts about this online that the mobo is the culprit.
