I'll be buying the computer Thursday, and this is all of what has been recommended to me or what I have chosen. The computer will be used for gaming and 3D rendering. Is there anything worth swapping out for something better before finalizing it?

Yeah the price is clearly wrong. dont assume newegg is the cheapest. search around. on amazon its $399.

you can always add it later but i as i said i recommend adding another SSD - 500gb.
Yep youre good to go. enjoy. oh wait. the monitor, what about the monitor. you probably dont want to hear about more cost but i recommend a 27" or 32" 1440p. Sasmsung s27d850t or 32" s32d850t or benQ BL3200pt. (same panel)

get a new 6 series intel, z170 mobo and DDR4 RAM. Cost will be the same. pcpartpicker broken at moment because i7-6700k listed as $698US - its much cheaper than that

if you dont need to overclock you can save a bit of cash.
Id consider getting another 500GB SSD for works space & games. Dropping to a 2 or 3tb Seagate barracuda instead of the WD black. Youll backup your important stuff anyhow. So the reliability of the black isnt that important and speed isnt crucial for media storage/playback. As a long time user of velociraptors and WD blacks im finding it increasingly hard to ever recommend their purchase. SSDs are where its at.

What about the monitor?

I originally had the i7-6700k selected until I noticed the price had increased by nearly two-hundred dollars from yesterday. You're sure it is an inaccurate listing? I couldn't find any other websites other than OutletPC selling that specific CPU except the European websites and it does say on OutletPC's website, $698.89. Are there any other new 6 series Intel that I could use as an alternative? I'm not too familiar with computers at the moment so I really have no clue.

These are the edits I made so far, swapping out the CPU for the i7-6700k, the motherboard for the ASUS Z170-A, the memory for Corsair Vengeance LPX and also swapping for the Seagate Barracuda 2TB: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

As for the monitor, I was thinking something like the ASUS PB278Q unless you know of something good but cheaper? http://www.amazon.com/PB278Q-2560x1440-DisplayPort-Ergonomic-Back-lit/dp/B009C3M7H0
