A computer store here in the city is selling some CPUs at lower prices this week, so i figured i should i get a upgrade for my PC.
My current setup is running an AMD A10-6790K (Kaveri) APU with a R9 280, generating some bottleneck, and both CPUs mentioned above, the i5-3330 and the FX 8350 are on the same price, which one should i get?

You won't really see a difference between the FX-8350 and your current CPU. It's only 5% faster in most cases. The i5 3330 is around 25% faster per core than an FX-8350, but obviously since the FX-8350 has more cores, it'll be faster when all cores are used.

Generally, games of 2014 and prior are using no more than 4 cores, this the i5 will have the advantaeg. If you want better performance in existing games, the i5 is the better choice. Going forward, you can expect the FX-8350 to draw ahead in a handful of games that use all its threads. Those are still only a handful of games, Star Wars Battlefront being a notable example. If we take power consumption into the mix, the i5 is much less power hungry.

The choice is yours really. But I think going from your platform to an AM3+ system is almost a downgrade... So I'd say go with the i5.

If you're on a budget, an AMD would be better for your needs. However, seeing as they are both the sameprice, I would go for the i5. Its performance is much better than the AMD.

Hope this helps! :)

Oh, hello! This post was from back in december '15, i'm not sure how you found it, but still, thanks for replying! It's been quite a while since i came down to the forums...
The solution was quite different in fact, i sold the entire machine and a few days later i found a Xeon E3-1220v3 CPU while scavenging old server racks.
Then, i bought an ASRock B85 Killer mobo, a GTX 970 and the rest of the parts need to build myself a completely new system. I'm still running it to this day, thinking about upgrading to Ryzen soon.
Not be outside the LGA 1155 socket, i'm currently building a super overkill pfSense router with an i5-3470 (found laying around, for real) and a D33682 NIC.

Here's what my current config looks like: https://pcpartpicker.com/b/89qkcf

Ah, ok. Haha I'm not too sure myself how I found this old thread, but that setup looks great. The GPU looks solid, the CPU looks great. Overall, it's a good PC in my opinion.
