CPU temperatures skyrocket during stress test?

Hi everyone,
So my CPU temperatures skyrocketed today when I ran a stress test. At idle, my CPU sits nicely at 30C. However, today I ran a stress test, and the temperature skyrocketed to almost 100C. I immediately stopped the test when I noticed this. The temperatures got this high very very quickly, almost instantly when I started the test. Also, my temperatures when I play games never get even close to those (normally around 40-50C). Any ideas for why this could be happening? (I do not use a stock cooler, I have a closed-loop liquid cooler).

Edit: Figured this may be important to. I am using prime95, and my system runs Windows 10.

What version of prme95 are you using? For Haswell, its recommened to use version 26.6 or older. Newer versions run AVX instruction sets and can cause higher than normal max load temps. Are you overclocked? What CPU are you using? By default, on adaptive voltage, it can spike up to .1v above normal load voltage during heavy stress such as prime95.

So I checked, and my motherboard does have a auto-voltage thing configured, but I am not really sure how I should go about changing this. If you can help me, that would be great! This is the motherboard I have:

I am not overclocked, however, I am planning to overclock which is why I was running prime95 in the first place. My CPU is an i7 4770k and I was using version 28.7 of it.
