Solution
Usually the answer with upgrades is to improve the graphics card
Probably not in this case though . Your mb is pretty average for a cpu upgrade too so IMO you start again with core components and move to intels i5 skylake .
Add in more than enough RAM and a new SSD and you will have a computer that feels much faster and is more powerful .

Next time you upgrade by changing graphics card

Thankyou for the detailed answer, but would it be worth saving up more money (such as an extra £100) or would the difference in hardware be too minor to make a noticeable difference and therefore be better used for something like a graphics card?

With that i5 and motherboard you can overclock so your performance can be as good as any Skylake i5 .

Extra money save and put that towards a graphics card in another 6 months or so when new generation AMD and nVidia cards start to become available . They will be much more efficient and more powerful
