Should I upgrade my GPU or my CPU?

Recently I have noticed some lag on modern games, and decided its the time to upgrade.
Specs:

GTX 750TI
AMD FX 6300 SIX CORE PROCESSOR
MSI 760GMA-P34
8GB RAM

I'm planning on getting a GTX 960, or a i5 4690k. Whatever will boost my performance
just tell me.

In order to upgrade the CPU to an i5-4690k, you will need a new motherboard, and your $230 budget does not support a new CPU and MB.

If gaming is your issue, put the money towards a new GPU.
