I just want to be able to play these games medium to high maybe even ultra with hopefully 30+ fps, just playable fps really with my pc im planning to build soon.

This is the build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/R34NrH

The games i have interest in playing are games like: Battlefield, Skyrim, Fallout 4, Day z, arma 2 or 3 (whichever one), Rust, Ark, Hurtworld. Those are the ones off the top of my head.

This build is the one im set on at this point.

this was my original cheaper build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/MmxrZL

and if i need to get a little better of a gpu i was thinking this: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/ymWBMp

I know the more expensive build would be the better performance wise but would it be necessary? Would the 970 be fine maybe even the 960? Thanks in advance.

Well I say it's my build but really I had a friend help me put it together and that's what he came up with as I am a noob with this stuff. I was thinking maybe i5, as I am mainly just gaming, to cut costs but I heard games like arma and day z heavily work the processor. And that i7 would be a better choice for the long run. I don't really have a set budget if it's cheaper I'll buy it sooner the more expensive it is I'll have to put it off a little longer I just want something to satisfy my gaming needs at the best quality without over killing the price tag but I guess around 1500 seems fair but the cheaper the better. As for overclocking off the top of my head I don't plan on it but maybe in the future I guess?

I feel this would be a better build, the i7 isnt really necessary because the most notable difference would be that is has more virtual cores witch wont come in handy for a few years.
The MSI Radeon R9 390 would be a better Gpu due to having 8 gb of vram which helps run more demanding games like Fallout 4, GTA V, and SKyrim better

I chose the Xeon - it is a locked processor and is a very balanced CPU. It is only $250. Many people don't buy this CPU because they are scared of it as Xeons are usually used in workstations. This CPU is essentially an i7-4770 without the integrated graphics for only $250!

MSI H97 PC MATE is a solid board with plenty of slots and is a no-frills board.

8GB of RAM is enough for any form of gaming.

GTX 970 is a perfect card for 1080p. It is much more efficient than the R9 390 and runs considerably cooler. Even though the R9 390 has 8GB VRAM, it is useless at 1080p resolution. Because you are playing older games, you can take advantage of your 144hz monitor and get those smooth pictures as the 970 is powerful enough to get 100+ FPS in most of the games you listed :)

That case is huge so if you are fine with it, I am fine with it.

250GB SSD from Samsung may be priced high but you are paying for the high quality of the Samsung product.

I always liked BenQ monitors and this case is not an exception - they are awesome.

Good luck with your build :)

So what build would you recommend? After checking them out I was thinking my build with an i5 or the first build you posted.
