Hey everyone,
I recently built a computer, but every time I play a game, it crashes. Sometimes it crashes within minutes 1-2 minutes of startiung but on average its about 10-20 minutes. It makes gaming impossible. I have the latest BIOS updates aswell as drivers. I cannot figure out what the problem is. Help is appreciated! Thanks!

CPU: AMD FX 8350
Mobo: MSI 970A sli krait edition
GPU: GTX 970
RAM: 16GB kingston hyper x (2x8GB)
PSU: silverstone 750W 80Plus gold
games are stored on an HDD, OS aswell as some programmes on a smaller SSD.
Running windows 10 Pro

I have not done any overclocking to anything in my build.

Well, it may not be the issue, but that motherboard is not built at all to run with an AMD FX 8 core processor. 4+1 phase VRM with Niko-Semi fets. That is a bomb! Your processor could very well be throttling, but instead of crashing you should simply see rather inconsistent performance.

You can try removing your current GPU drivers using DDU:

Then manually install the latest one from Nvidia's website.

See if that helps, but you've made a bad choice on the motherboard. It looks good, but it is absolute overpriced crap that shouldn't run with anything higher than AMD FX 4 core processors

I ran stress tests on CPU-Z and it did not go bellow 4 Gigahertz very often. Does this mean the CPU is running fine? I suspected that the CPU may be the problem before, but I am unsure... Would you recommend investing in a new motherboard at this point?

I would never run an MSI 970A with a processor like that and yeah I would replace it honestly. I know It's a lot of work but if you want to see good performance from that FX-8350 (It is a beast), then you simply need a better motherboard. I'm not 110% sure if that will fix your issues. I would try to install a new motherboard, then do a new (storage formatted) fresh windows install. See if your games still crash after that.

Make sure your case fits a 160mm Hyper 212 Evo. Also you can overclock the FX-8350 after installing this mobo and cooler up to 4.5-4.7 Ghz.
