Last night my computer started vibrating, humming, and clicking so I unplugged it and went to sleep. Come morning, I dusted everything in my PC thinking some dust was messing with a fan, but the sound persisted; that's when I found out it was my power supply. Now I'm trying to boot my PC with my backup PSU (530w) and everything has been hooked up properly multiple times but my screen detects no input. All of my fans are spinning and I thought it might have killed my video card, but my 970 works fine in my friend's PC. Is my motherboard dead? (A replacement psu is coming eventually).

I had a 730w PSU before and the replacement is a working 530w PSU I already had. My CPU is overclocked, but I can't change that if I can't get into the BIOS because my PC doesn't boot or display anything. I'm sure I'm getting enough power because I also tried a Radeon HD 7450 in my system (very low power card that takes no external power) and I still wasn't getting any display output. Btw my 970 worked in my friend's PC with only a 500w power supply.

Popped out the CMOS battery for 15 minutes and put it back in; works fine with the old PSU. I just wish the damn thing wasn't so loud. Sentey is sending me a replacement which I'll probably sell and upgrade to a more reliable brand like Corsair. Thanks for the input everyone.

I had a s****y generic brand PSU and it was just a piece. I solved my original issue by popping out the CMOS battery for 15 minutes. If your PSU hums there's really nothing you can do about it. Buy one with a hybrid fan mode so it doesn't run the fan all the time. Power supplies suck I've always had trouble with them. EVGA is good tho
