Why does the newer WD Blue have 5400rpm and the older Caviar Blue has 7200rpm. This doesn't make sense, especially since the caviar blue costs around 20-30 dollars more than the caviar variant. Can someone explain? Is the WD Blue faster?

One seems to be a newer 2015 model (5400 RPM) the other one is (2012).
All those suggestions about Caviar Blue on TH are valid for the older EZEX. It might be a typical bite and switch just as Kingston did with V300 SSD... they've put a successor which doesn't perform as good as the previous model but they rely on the hype created around it to boost sales.
It's not that bad in general but not as fast as 2012, for the same price take older one without a question.
