Need of help locating a SM bus controller, Please.

My wife had to wipe her computer due to a virus neither of us could get rid of. The PC is a Acer Aspire 7560 (Laptop). I went on Acers web page. All I found was other drivers such as wireless,Lan,bluetooth and sound. All well and good but no SM bus controller or Chipset updater of any kind could be found. Can anyone here steer me with a link or something to help me where to get this chipset driver? I've tried Googling for hours and found "sketchy" sites that claim to have it and they want you to download software that will wreck hell on a computer. Thanks for any help anyone can give.

friendly bump, There is another problem I am facing as well as this one. Should I post that here as well or make another thread?

It seems to have a AMD CPU so you could try to download directly from AMD, go to the optional downloads for the chipset driver download.

Thank you kindly. I figured to try to look on AMD site but all I say was APU and GPU drivers. I will let you know if this worked when I have time tomorrow. End of the year is always busy!

Edit : Found the chipset drivers in "Optional Downloads" I feel retarded... If this works that will be one enemy down. The next one is hard I don't expect you to help me but I did a fresh install on my wife's PC and windows refuses to update. Checks for updates goes on forever or ends in a error. I've done everything.... including deleting and manually reinstalling windows update... Nothing but I'll put that in another thread but never thought her PC would make me so flipping angry!

Did the install media include Service Pack 1? If not try to download the offline install pack for it from Microsoft.

Thanks Samat for the help. The Update problem fixed itself. We let the computer run and didn't use it for nearly a whole day after reinstalling windows and just Viola! Started automatically. Very weird! I did find the chip set drivers and now the SM Controller issue is resolved. I think we are good here now. I really appreciate the time you took to help me with this issue of ours. I love computers but sometimes they can be a pain. Hope you had a happy new year!
