First time builder!

(Specifics are Gigabyte R9 390x onto an ASUSZ170A New build)

I've physically installed and connected the GPU onto the Mobo...into the PCI-E 16 slot & connected the 8 (6+2)pin & 6pin power connectors to the PSU
Card is getting power as LED logo is illuminated and fans spinning up...

I've then gone back to see if its recognised in bios/device driver & to install the drivers from the CD...

I'm building on a workbench with an old VGA display monitor - connected up to the Mobo VGA out (not the Graphics card - its too new for a VGA port)

My monitor is getting no signal from the Mobo VGA out...

Is this normal?

Is this because the Graphics card is over-ruling the built in Graphics adapter on the CPU?

Don't want to go through the faff of disconnecting this monitor here (and not being able to ask Q???'s on here) and trying the HDMI port on the GPU if I'm missing something obvious...

Solution
You can't use both onboard and add-in graphics adapters, by adding the plug-in(GPU) card the onboard automatically gets disabled, at least on all the computers I've done it with.

Maybe some AMD CPUs that include ATI video, you can search for it in BIOS should be somewhere under integrated graphic options, like "Multi-Monitor" option so you don't have to buy new monitor with HDMI ... good luck in finding it

Proofy

Admirable

yep thats exactly whats happing, it knows you've connected a GPU so it bypasses the CPU graphics :)

To see if the CPU graphics are working, take the GPU out and then run the system. If it shows that means its working, then you can Put your GPU back in :) and plug the display cable into the GPU :)
