Sapphire Tri-X R9 290 or FX8150 Problems

I used to have an ASUS R9 280x until it unfortunately stopped working, so I upgraded my card to a Sapphire Tri-X R9 290. With my old card, I could run Arma 2 Dayz really well at around 50-60fp but now with this card I only get around 20-30. I've looked around and some people are saying it requires a really powerful CPU to run well with the Sapphire Tri-X R9 290 and others are saying different things. Games which aren't GPU and CPU intensive games run extremely well such as CS:GO where I get 200-300fps. But all games which are more CPU intensive seem to run really poorly, such as; Arma 3, Arma 2 DayZ and Star Citizen. However, with my old card I could run all of these games well. So what I am wondering if it's the CPU or a faulty card.

Specs:
GPU: Sapphire Tri-X R9 290 OC
CPU: AMD FX-8150 @ 3.90 GHz
RAM: 16GB 2x8GB @ 1600 mhz
Operating System: Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit

Solution
The first generation FX Bulldozer "faildozer" processors are notoriously weak. If you are planning to run games such as ARMA or DayZ I would look at a new processor.

The strange thing is, with my old GPU I could run them fine with around 50fps on arma and DayZ would run smoothly(Not sure of FPS though) and it was a worse GPU(ASUS R9 280x) with the same CPU(FX-8150)

@OP. Your question is still valid though. An R9 290 as powerful as it is, is not more than 30% better than R9 280x. Therefore, you should be getting slightly better results than you were getting with R9 280x even if your CPU is bottlenecking. Getting worse results is definitely not right. I am curious what is happening.

I've had it for over 2 years now, but do you recommend that I upgrade it? So far its not been an issue.
