Hello,

I'm building (or at least trying to build) myself a 3D Anim./Gaming PC, this is however my first time doing such a thing.

So, it would be greatly appreciated if you were to help in picking the needed parts. I've made a quick list of the parts I've chosen (i already have 2 of the listed parts - those being the case and video card).

Here being the link - http://pcpartpicker.com/p/xY6NrH

See, the one thing that truly baffles me is the PSU, I will eventually in the next 2 years buy a better graphics card and I'm curious whether it would be wasteful to get a Higher Wattage PSU.

Thank you in advance and i apologize for any facepalm-inducing choices.

Happy Holidays.

EDIT: Sorry for not specifying, my budget is about 700$

Your biggest issue is the video card, it is just not very powerful. I see two options. First option is to replace the video card with something more powerful, say an AMD R9 380 or a Nvidia GTX 970. Second option is to purchase another R7 250 and run the two cards in crossfire.

A second thing you might want to consider is getting an SSD to load your programs onto, this will speed up the editing.

I put together an alternate build for you based on a Xeon. This will get you very good multiple thread processing capability which helps with video processing. It will be a stronger system, especially if you are not considering overclocking. It will be a good gaming system as well. If you want to overclock, then stay with the FX8350 and...

Thank you for the fast response and detailed reply, i spent a bunch more time looking for said parts and here's what i found:

RAM: The are barely any distributors of G.Skill here, and the only one sells them for 50% more than the Corsair ones, so ill have to stick to those.

PSU: The EVGA PSU seems good as well but that specific one i can't find anywhere, so i updated the list with an equivalent Corsair CX750 V2 (V2 meaning it became modular).

Storage: Checked for the HDD and decided that getting a cheaper one (albeit slower one at 64mb cache) and a SanDisk SSD was a better choice as per your suggestion. - I realize that SanDisk isn't top of the line when it comes to SSDs but I'm also looking for an upgradeable system, so getting a cheap SanDisk now, waiting until the prices of SSDs lower seems like a better long-term thing.

CPU: In the end i did go with the AMD CPU, AMD is closer to my heart and that allows me to get a better motherboard, which is hopefully good for the long-term, as in upgradeability.

Graphics Card: For the video card, ill probably get another for the crossfire effect once i have a bit more cash.

Question: Would all of these parts require extra cooling? My Case does come with two 140mm fans, which is nice, but will that be enough?

My decisions were based on looking at a buncha sites for reviews (most notably newegg)

It is also worth noting that i live in Eastern Europe (and i apologize for not saying so), so things like Amazon simply aren't available here.
The prices of all the parts, including shipping, discounts etc. total to about 710$ that is excluding the second video card increasing it up to about 810$, which i simply cant afford, yet.

I'll post the link to the updated list here - http://pcpartpicker.com/p/MT49Vn
Feel free to criticize any discrepancies.

And again, Happy Holidays.

the Intel Xeon is more powerful than the 8350
and the single 380 is more powerful than two 250s in crossfire
