I have a old HP desktop that I'm using right now. If I removed the ddr3 sticks can I place them in this motherboard? Can I also move the optical drive from the old desktop into my new build?

Give me your thoughts about my list? I'm going to buy all the parts in the beginning of February.

Yes the DRAM will work, it's 1333 and the Haswell CPUs are naticve to 1600, so won't be optimal, and they normally populated those with a 4GB stick and a 2 GB stick so might take some manual adjustments to get both to play nice on the newer chipset - the CD/DVD drive will work fine, it's SATA so unless HP did any tweaking to it (doubt it on this) it should work
