I upgraded some parts in my PC (mobo, GPU,and ram) and immediately after my PC would turn off when on heavy load. After some research I had determined that my PSU was insufficient for my needs and I would need to upgrade. I received it today a hooked it all up, to come across the same problem.

Specs before upgrade:

Motherboard: MSI 760GMA-P34 (FX)
Ram: ADATA 2x4gb AD3U1600W4G11-B
GPU: NVIDIA GTX 650
CPU: AMD 8350 4 GHz 8?Core
PSU: APEX AL-D500EXP 500W ATX12V

Specs Currently:

Motherboard: ASUS Crosshair V Formula-V
Ram: Corsair 2x8gb 1866MHz DDR3
GPU: NVIDIA GTX 970
CPU: Same
PSU: EVGA SuperNova P2

the video card has 2 PCI power connectors, are both plugged in directly to PSU or you using some kind of adaptor?

The PSU came with an adapter all on one cord for the GPU. On the cord, at the GPU end a 6 pin with a separate couple that has a 4 pin and a 2 pin; those leading into the PSU.

I'm afraid I can't spend any more money for a bit. Just spent a large amount on parts.
