Bad memory or something else? - BSOD crash

For the last 2 months I have been having these odd BSOD's, with the error "SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED" (Crash dumps in the end). I decided this week to try and figure out what was happening, and now I'm more confused. I ended up updating as many drivers as I could for everything I could find.

After ruling out drivers, I tried running Memtest86, to see if wether the error was with bad RAM or what. And that crashed the system too. I don't know what else to test or try. I've tried:
- Moving the RAM chip (specs in the end) to a different slot in the motherboard;
- Updating drivers manually to the newest version;
- Updating motherboard BIOS (already up-to-date);

(I probably have tried some other stuff I can't remember)

What could cause this? More importantly, what can I do to fix it?

Thanks in advance for any help.

This really seems like either a motherboard or a ram issue but since you can't check the ram with memetest86 there isn't much you can do to test the ram. My recommendation would be to switch out the ram for some ram that's working to see if it fixes the problem, if not then it seems like a motherboard problem.

Do you have the latest BIOS? What slot (from CPU) is the DRAM in? What do you have the DRAM running at -1333, 1600 or ??
The BIOS I have is from 2012, and it's the latest update AFAIK, so I didn't bother updating. I believe the DRAM is running at 1600, since it's the stated speed (not sure how to check that though).
The DRAM was originally in slot A2 (as recomended by the Motherboard manufacturer), and I switched it to B2, to see if it was a poor connection.

This really seems like either a motherboard or a ram issue but since you can't check the ram with memetest86 there isn't much you can do to test the ram. As for switching out the RAM for some that's working, I'm going to buy some today, and update the thread then. Mainly this post was to see if someone had any insights or tests I could do before I spent money on a new one.

Is the memtest86 crash something that indicates/is caused by bad RAM (and should it work just fine when I install the new one)? If it doesn't work then, does that mean it's the motherboard? Those are my main concerns ATM.

I have no idea how this fixed it, but I went on to purchase a new DRAM stick. I installed both sticks (old w/ new) and they both work just fine, as is. Running memtest86 right not, currently on test 10. Will update then. Really odd though

False alarm. Now I'm getting the same random BSOD's, only now I've been getting the errors KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED and WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR. Removing the old ram does not fix the problem. I'm getting more confused by the minute on this one...

Took the old ram stick out, still got both BSOD's occasionnally. Tried updating BIOS to latest version, 2603 from march 2015 (Nevermind what I said about latest being 2012, I didn't check properly because I'm an idiot :p ). Checking to see if BIOS fixed it. If so, I'll try with both sticks.
