I'm looking at purchasing a 4k monitor and my current system is as follows:

MSI 980 Ti in Sli
Intel i7-6700k
1500 Platinum EVGA PSU
Asus Maximus VIII Hero
Trident Z 3200 32GB
With ~~ 4.5TB of SSD

I'm just curious as to if this system (being the 980Tis) are capable of running with 4k resolution at max settings (on all games) with at least 50fps?

I have GTX 980 Ti in SLI with a 40 inch Philips 4K monitor and I am very satisfied. One 980 Ti handles 4K just. However frame rates can drop under heavy load thus the need for the sli setup. On World of Tanks one GTX manages between 40-70 frames while two gives me 80-112 FPS. Fallout 4 plays on full settings with no issue as does GTA 5. I seriously recommend the 40 inch 4K set up. No tiny fonts or icons and gaming is more than awesome. Once you go 40 inch 4K you can never go back. You wont regret the spend. One thing to watch for is to make sure the monitor is Display Port 1.2 compliant as this will allow you to run at 4K at 60 hertz.

I've read a lot of reviews on dozens of tech/gaming sites on 980Ti SLI over the months this year and have yet to see any of them report one game running with those low numbers. Sounds like someone didn't have something set up correctly or had some insane graphics settings.

A 40" monitor sounds huge and amazing. How far from the monitor do you sit typically? Is 40" different than dual 27"?
