XFX Radeon R9 280x does not fit on a ASRock H97M Micro ATX motherboard?

Hi, so I've recently bought an ASRock H97M PRO4 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard along with a XFX Radeon R9 280X 3GB Double Dissipation Video Card, however looking at the two parts the gpu seems way too big for the motherboard, even though the motherboard does have a PCI Express 3.0 x16 slot. I'm wondering if anyone can confirm and if so I'll just have to return the gpu?

thanks, I'm new to all this do it yourself pc building. I've looked at the two parts, and on the end of the gpu is a massive bulk of metal that stretches down so far that the piece where the gpu connects to the slot cannot even reach it. In addition, it seems the RAM slots are in the way, as well as the huge blue metal piece saying "ASROCK". On the other end, the ELNA Audio piece also seems to stand in the way. Are there any tutorials out on how to install this massive card, and am I just looking at the wrong parts?

It should barely miss the RAM slot so you will want to install them first before the 280x. The blue ASRock logo should be the same height as the PCI-E slot and shouldn't interfere with installing. Are you just checking out the parts online or do you physically have them in front of you? And yes there are plenty of videos and guides online how to install each part. Newegg actually has a two part video explaining how to build a PC.

I have them infront of me, thanks for the links I'll be sure to check them out! Also, on the end of the card where the large metal piece goes downwards, would that connect with the case or something? It seems that if I try to connect the hooked piece with the pcie slot, the metal piece will hit the motherboard first and therefore not let me lock the card into place.

Ok so that large metal peice on the 280x actually faces the left side of the motherboard where all the motherboard plug-ins are. Essentially the GPU fans are faced downwards, I know doesn't make much sense since heat rises but w/e.

Just remember once you have the 280x installed on the motherboard to hook up the additional connections from your power supply, if you don't you could end up destroying the 280x! If you have any questions google it first then if there's no solution then post it here in Tom's. The videos online are really good, if you do get confused I would highly recommend watching the full installation videos one-two times then building along with the video to ensure your building the system correctly and addressing any issues in the meantime.
