Computer turns on for a second, then turns off, then turns on and boots for a bit then turns off

I'm quite confused here, I just got back from a 10 day vacation and my computer is exhibiting some strange symptoms. When I push the power button the computer turns on for a couple seconds spins the fans, then turns off. On its own, it then turns back on and continues to boot and makes it to the BIOS screen and then shuts off.

Interesting enough, previously my computer used to boot for 3 seconds then turn off and then boot fully into windows in the past. Now it just turns off 10 or so seconds into the boot (after booting for a few seconds and then turning off and on again). What's interesting is that the longer I let the computer set before trying to boot it the longer it boots before turning off.

to me this sounds like it might be either a power supply or motherboard issue, it's just strange that this decided to perk up after leaving my computer off for 10 days. Thanks

Also, I have tried turning the power supply off for a decent amount of time and then turning it back on, this has shown no improvement.

Update I pulled the RAM sticks and then pulled the video card and then it still would not boot properly. I then looked down with a case opened to see the power supply fan was not spinning, sometimes it would wiggle semicolon but not spin. I'm going to take a wild stab and assume this is a bad power supply? It is a Corsair TX750m

im no expert, but your psu does sound like an issue....but to throw this out there as Ive had the same exhausting problem after finding out everything perfectly fine component wise........my case's RESTART button---the actual connector to the mobo, was faulty and was causing it restart continuously and randomly (and i mean itll go fine for 3 months kind of random lol)......once I unplugged that and left it alone, my build has been flawless for a year or so now.

That's actually kind funny, thanks for the input but I think I can rule out the reset switch since I recently swaped cases and the problem with random restarting and then booting has persisted.

*UPDATE*

It's not the PSU,I replaced the PSU with a 850w EVGA and the problem still persists. I was able to get the PC to boot into windows awhile ago by leaving it off overnight. However, when overclocking my GPU I had to do a manual reset and I'm back to a computer that wont boot for more then ~10 secs.

I assume I have a fault motherboard?

well it seems you've gone through all the possibilities. and i highly doubt the hard drive you're using is the cause though with all that i've gone through i wouldn't rule it out lol. If it isn't the motherboard, the last suspect would be the CPU. I guess your best bet at this point is to try breadboarding the build with a different mobo to see if its that, if not, then i can only imagine it being the processor.

So I removed the CMOS battery and got it to boot; however now it wont go into windows. Using the windows repair tool is unsuccessful and specifies that the drive is locked.

Upon looking at the drives in the windows installer my SSD (which has my OS) is no longer listed. So now the computer is not reading my drive C.

So now I'm even more confused; corrupt boot sector in the SSD maybe? I should also add that the event that set this in motion was a hard freeze from overclocking my GPU that resulted in a hard reset.

wow this has me so lost. perhaps the reboots caused an error/corruption in the ssd? as for the hard freeze from overclocking gpu, after the hard reset the hard drive was fine you were able to boot into windows momentarily right? if not, then it could be that your SSD has corrupted and might need to reinstall windows though i wouldn't see why you wouldn't be able to boot to bios if that was the case.

are you still overclocking the gpu? perhaps you're running too much heat? I remember my old pc when the 2600k got hot it would cause my pc to shut down or reboot, installing a new heatsink fixed it.

if possible, see if you can get a motherboard speaker, and see if any of the beeps can help you figure out a problem.
