I have a FX4350 processor, a GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-USB3 Motherboard, 8gb of crucial sport ballistix ram, DVD ROM player, 1TB HDD. I am going to install a R9 380 Graphics card with this build will my PSU be enough?

(My PSU is an Antec EA-500 and is fairly old but apparently it ages well)
Also if my PSU does die, would it power down or fry my components?

Solution
You need atleast minimum 550W of power for a r9 380.

I'd say based on your build, you should upgrade to atleast 550w/600w PSU. You might be able to pull it off with just a 500W, but i honestly wouldn't try it.

as said above its best to have 550W of a tier 1 power supply for that build as the R9 380 take 2x6 PCI power connections, also your CPU has a power draw of upto 125W before overclocking, so these componants alone will use most of the power from your 500W and with an AMD setup its best to overclock, meaning you need more W to give overhead for the extra power needed, I would say to be safe get like a 620W psu from Seasonic or something similar.
