Gonna add more RAM to my 2x4 Vengeance need some help

Hi

I have 2x corsair vengeance 4gb ram.I want to install 2 more but my cpu cooler blocks the ram slots

What should i do?Some people told that i could use low profile but some told that it can be incompatible

Do i need to straight buy a 16gb ram or i can uprage these by adding more?

It sounds like you have a large tower type cpu cooler. It's best to change the cpu and buy two more memory sticks. Or just upgrade the existing ram to new ones. Also, make sure your motherboard can support 8GB per slot if you want to do 16GB in two slots.

By buying RAM separately there is always a chance of comparability issues, even if it's the same make and model. It's why people recommend using only a single RAM kit. Chances are it will be fine but it's not guaranteed. Corsair do some vengeance low profile, the only difference is the cooler so it's just as likely to work as the non low profile kit. Just make sure the timings are the same as the kit you currently have installed
