Recently upgraded to a 3570k with an Asrock z77 extreme6 motherboard and I am experiencing small popping sounds when playing audio through any audio device. I have used my 5.1 Surround speakers, 2.1 speakers, headphones (in front and back audio jack), and usb headset and get popping on all of them when sound is playing through them. I have been doing research on this for a while and I have tried everything from changing the properties in sound settings (turning off enhancements and changing format of speakers from 16bit to 24bit etc), Upgrading/downgrading realtek drivers, disabling network controllers, unplugging fans and hard drives, moving the pc out of the room in case interference was coming from somewhere. I have even reinstalled windows, upgrading from 7 to 8.1 with no luck what so ever.
I don't really wanna hear someone telling me 'just get a soundcard', because I shouldn't have to because this regarded as a mid to high end 1155 board and the sound card built into it should be more than fine. Plus a sound card won't help for USB Audio through my headset.

Specs:
i5 3570k (Not overclocked)
Asrock z77 extreme6 mobo
Corsair CX750m PSU
8gbs G.Skill Ram 1600mhz
Sandisk SSD
Thermaltake A31 Case
LG Blu Ray Drive
Sapphire 7950 Vapor-X (I have removed the card from the system and using onboard graphics until this issue is resolved)

These are the audio devices I have tested
Logitech z506 speakers
MSI DS502 USB Headset
Logitech Stereo Speakers (don't know model)
Standard earbud headphones

weird that you are having it with usb as well as onboard. did you try those devices on other pc's to see you get different results? also i would ask someone else if they heard the popping just to cover all bases

The devices work with other systems as I had just moved them over from my last computer to this one. And yes other people can hear the popping

Even tried using audio through HDMI on my GPU and still get the same popping sound. I thought the audio through the GPU was different?

Even tried taking the system out of the case and ran it 'open' on the bench with the same results.

Hmm you are even getting the popping no matter what audio source you've tried, it sounds like possibly there is something interfering with the sound... check by unhooking new devices internal and external. it could also be another driver thats causeing the popping sound try updating all your drivers. and see if that helps at all

Thats what I initially thought, I have unplugged everything except the devices that are obviously required (mouse and hdd etc). And disabled drivers for everything except the ones of the mouse I was using and it still made the popping sound. I have also mucked around with the drivers updating and downgrading them.

Bump - Would an pci soundcard fix the issue, would usb audio still be able to go through the pci soundcard and not the motherboard? I also had the popping issue through HDMI audio on my graphics card so does that mean I will get the same thing on a pci soundcard?

usb audio comes from the usb audio and pcie card audio comes from that so no. im thinking you have a faulty mobo
