I realize there are already several posts on this, but i'm not quite sure i'm understanding most of the answers.

The fan on our amd radeon 5750 quit working which caused several issues with overheating and eventual pc shutdown. Now, we are looking to switching to a xfx radeon r9 280x graphics card. When we upgraded our lenovo to use a better graphics card we ended up with a GX 650W Coolmaster (http://www.coolermaster.com/powersupply/gx-series/gx-650w/). It's worked great so far.

Two questions though. Will the 650w be able to handle the new gsu? No overclocking.. no extra anything.. Second question is how do I connect the 2 6pin connectors to my psu. It does have 6 + 2 pin x2. Will this work?

Apologies for the ignorance, but I don't want to mess anything up here and would rather get it right the first time.

Thanks!

Solution
Yes, that PSU will work with the R9-280X. Use the 2 x 6+2-pin connectors. The +2 pin section will be left disconnected. They only go with the 6-pin section for use in 8-pin headers.

Note: It will depend on which model XFX card you got. Some have 2 x 6 pin headers, some have 1 x 6-pin and 1 x 8-pin header. Either way, your PSU has the connections to make it work.
