Just finished my first build and checking cpu temps. Looking for input.

I just completed my first build and tested it rendering a project that I had done previously. Render time was greatly improved from 1/2 hr to 5 min but the cpu temp reached 82 deg C. I measured this using speccy and HWmonitor. Compared to the old computer this is still better. It reached 95 deg C but I was wondering if this is still too hot. Otherwise it idles (well not completely idle I am downloading my steam library) at 26 deg C. I will also attach the build list of what I have in the tower. All of this is already purchased and put together. Thank you for your input. It is my new creation and I don't want to be screwing it up.

82 degrees is not TOO high although a lower temp is recommended to be safe. Rendering really uses up CPU cores so that is why the temp is so high - shouldn't be so high when gaming and on idle - as you said it's below 30 degrees.

I think you are pretty safe where you are as the Cryorig R1 is a high-end cooler and buying a high-end liquid cooler or doing custom liquid cooling won't be very wise.

Staying 70-80 is okay. Anything higher than 90 is dangerous. 82 degrees seems like a fine temperature for me but if I were you, I would be worrying a bit.

82 degrees isn't too horrible. in my understanding the haswell chips run hot regardless. intel was finding that from the prototypes to the real world chips they were running 10-15 degree's hotter. I try to keep mine absolutely no higher than 92 personally and tend to worry a little after 85 degrees. I really don't think you would need to jump up to water cooling of any sort as you already have good cooling though and honestly I think it will be ok. Try checking out core temp. What that will do is pull the info directly from the cpu sensor, from there it will tell you how far you are away from your max limit, for example say the cpu is designed to be no higher than 100 and you are sitting at 80 degrees, it will give you the input of -40. Another option that might help is ditching the 200mm fan in front and running 2 140mm fans if possible. I dis this with my case and it improved general temps by 10 degrees especially with the phantek PH-f140sp fans. Also if you can stick 2 140mm or 120mm fans on the top pushing cold air in as well.

Thank you both for your thoughts. It kept bothering me so so I decided that I would remount the cpu fan to face the back instead of up. Good thing I did because I am an idiot. If you ever wanted to know the impact of that thin protective plastic sheet that covers the contact of the heat sink it is about 40 degrees C. Luckily the plastic had not melted and I was able to clean off the coolant paste, remove the plastic sheet, and remount facing the back. Same test now max temp of 43 deg C.

That sounds much much better haha. I was going to say I average about 15 degrees idle with an i7 4790k and max out currently with it oc'ed to 5.0Ghz at about 81. with ambient temps in the mid 70's to 80's
