should i upgrade my cpu or gpu?

i have a g3258 and a 7850 card i play games like just cause 3 minecraft and cs go. I have 8gb of ram and i was looking to upgrade the CPU to a i7 4790k or upgrade the GPU to a gtx 970 wich one would give me the most fps. Thanks for any responses.

If you plan on going for a stronger CPU in the future, then get the gfx card now and put up with the bottleneck for the time being. That will show the most graphical improvement in single player gaming.

If your gaming is mostly multi-player on busy servers, and you are struggling now, the CPU will make the most difference because the CPU has more work to do in multi-player online gaming than single player. But you'll be stuck with the same gfx settings you play now.

The CPU will be better for the long haul, but will not show much performance increase as long as it is stuck with the HD-7850. On the other hand, the GTX 970 will show the most performance increase, but you will have major CPU bottleneck, meaning the card won't be able to perform at its best.

How about an i5-4690K and a GTX 970? Can you swing that combo?
