I've been reading up on dx12 which sounds like a magical land of opportunity for new innovation. Can anyone confirm that two different cards can in fact work together? Is there a benchmark available to do this? For example I will use my current situation.... I just got a Fury X for Christmas to replace my HD 7870s CF which was giving me problems with some titles, etc. Will keeping one of the 7870s in my rig offer any improvement? Without dx12 it is basically impossible to benefit from the two cards right? I also have an nvidia 635gt (or something from an old dell, not positive) would that be useful in the future or even now for for something? I have plenty of headroom on my PSU and such.

While according to what I've read it is possible in theory there's no guarantee it will be supported by either Nvidia, AMD or developers and in addition the testing that was performed showed that the GPU's need to be of similar performance to show any noticeable gains.

Its impressive having two different gpu makes work together under Dx12, i just hope the two parties can sort something out and not be nasty about it.

Come on, do it for the power rangers ;D

In essence yes it's up to the devs but who knows the level of complexity that's required to make this work. You also have to consider AMD and Nvidia may need to do somethings on their end with drivers which most likely won't get much support from Nvidia as they are known to be more closed than AMD.
