Just a question, If I boot Chrome OS from a USB on my PC, will I loose my stuff on my hard drive, or will it attempt to install on a hard drive?

And another question, What is the needed requirements for Chrome OS?

Nah like most "Live' boots, you should boot to a standard desktop and have some option to install, it shouldnt harm your hard drive unless you initiate an install and even then it should ask you if you want to partition it and you could dual boot if you wished and save your windows install as well.

If you are just looking to try a separate operating system why not just unplug the main hard drive from the PC. Ive had some homemade OS's made off of other things like MS.DOS and such try to automatically over write the HDD. For peace of mind I would unplug it just to make sure nothing goes wrong. You don't accidentally hit overwrite existing files, etc.

I mis-clicked with a linux and it started to overwrite and I had to do a hard shut down to stop it.
